Blue Monday

It’s cold, wet and windy. I spent too much, ate too much, drank too much over Christmas. Summer is a long way away... It’s not surprising that most of us feel a little gloomy at this time of year! So much so, that the third Monday of January has been given its own cheery name, just in case we forget to be fed up on Monday 15th January.

Tempting as it may be to stay under the duvet until April... here are five ideas to help you towards a more positive mindset to beat the January blues and get you on your way to a happy 2024!
Think of someone you’ve lost contact with and send them a message. If you’re worried about sounding needy, think how you would feel if an old friend got in touch with you out of the blue.
Give yourself the challenge to try a new skill or take up a new hobby, and then crack on with it. By Christmas 2024 you could be skateboarding, knitting or foxtrotting!
Treat yourself, there’s nothing wrong with that. What do you really enjoy doing? Do more of it! Perhaps you love going to the cinema or relaxing with a sudoku, you do you!
Psychologists tell us that being a part of something makes us happy. Perhaps you could join something? Join a food bank volunteer team, a church community, an amateur dramatics group, start a book club, or join even a political party.
Most importantly, dream the dream – if nothing was stopping you, what would you like to be doing this time next year? New job? New flat? New adventure?
If any of these suggestions sound like a good idea but you don’t know how to get started, feel free to get in touch with me and we can talk about setting goals and how coaching might help to kick-start your 2024 and get you on your way to achieving your dream.
A quote from one of my clients; “I found talking with Sue helped me get my thoughts in order, to think that what I wanted to do could actually be possible. I was inspired to take manageable steps towards my goal.”
Here’s to an incredible year!
